Association of Senior Civil Servants of Nigeria (ASCSN), has pleaded with the Federal Government to take urgent steps and pay thousands of civil servants their outstanding salaries and allowances, lamenting that the workers were hungry and passing through very hard times.
In a statement in Lagos, the association also contended that the payment of the salary arrears and allowances would also stimulate the economy.
ASCSN, in the statement by its Secretary-General, Alade Bashir Lawal, said:
“We believe that since these federal civil servants and their dependents live in different parts of the country, if these outstanding entitlements are paid to them, it will have positive ripple effects on the economy and douse the tension in the land.
“There is anger and hunger in the country and as a patriotic trade union organisation, we have decided to bring this situation to the notice of government so that it can take necessary measures to stem the tide by doing the needful.”
The ASCSN wondered why the Federal Government that doled out N713.7 billion to states to pay arrears of salaries and allowances to their workers, but refused to settle similar debt owed its own employees.
It said a bag of rice was now N20,000, more than the N18,000 monthly National Minimum Wage; a gallon of kerosene costs N1,200 from N400 a few months ago. ASCSN advised President Buhari not to allow the goodwill that brought him to power to be easily eroded, and so soon.

Please Be Informed!!! There Is Hunger & Anger In The Land – Labour Tells Buhari
BUSTED!!! EFCC Finally Locates N13.5b In Private Account From Halliburton Scandal
The Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) has uncovered how $32.5million of about $200million fines from Halliburton Energy Services was allegedly paid into a private account.
The money was said to be missing because it could not be ascertained whether or not it was remitted into the Federal Government’s account.
Consequently, a top shot with Nigerian National Petroleum Corporation (NNPC), Roland Ewubare, who was one of the lawyers involved in the Settlement Agreement with Halliburton, has been given up to September 15 to submit a letter authorising him by the Federal Government to open the private escrow account.
Ewubare told EFCC that as the then Executive Secretary of the National Human Rights Commission (NHRC), he acted in national interest in opening the escrow account.
He is in the United States to retrieve the relevant documents relating to the account for the EFCC.
The EFCC has grilled the Managing Director of Halliburton Energy Services in Nigeria, Henry Oki.
Oki gave the details of how agreements were signed between the Federal Government and Halliburton in London.
About five companies have paid fines in line with a Settlement Agreement with the Federal Government .
The breakdown of the remittances by the five companies is as follows: Julius Berger ($35m); Siemens (Euros 30m); Snamprogetti ($30m); Halliburton Energy Services ($32,500,000); and Japan Gasoline Corporation ($26, 500,000).
Top Nigerian lawyers who oversaw the agreement are a former President of the Nigerian Bar Association, Joseph B Daudu (SAN), Mr. E.C Ukala (SAN) Chief Godwin Obla (SAN), Mr. Roland Ewubare and Damian Dodo (SAN).
Some members of the legal team were conferred with national honours for the recovery.
EFCC detectives have discovered that the missing $32.5million was transferred by Halliburton into FGN JP Morgan Chase New York Swift BIC Code CHASUS 33, Account No. 000742501406865.
It was gathered that the account was titled Madison Avenue/ Escrow /CBN/ FGN further Credit to FGN Litigation Settlement.
EFCC team discovered that although the account was opened in the name of Federal Government, it was a purely private account which was managed by Ewubare and others as signatories.
A source told The Nation: “Out of over $200million fines paid, about $32.5m (N13,585,000,000) is missing. Our team succeeded in tracing the transfer of the cash into an account in New York but there is no record of whether or not it was remitted into the Federal Government Consolidated Account.
“We have raised issues on why the money was paid into a private account which led to the deduction of about 3.5% for some services.
“When we confronted a top official of NNPC, Roland Ewubare(who was at the time of the agreement the Executive Secretary of the National Human Rights Commission), he said $20million out of the $32.5million was remitted into the Federal Government account. We are yet to confirm this transfer because there are no records.
“We have given Ewubare up till September 15 to produce a letter from the Federal Government authorizing the payment of the $32.5million into a private escrow account and other documents relating to transactions in the account including the agreement on deduction of 3.5% for services out of the sum.
“As I speak with you, Ewubare is in the United States to retrieve all these relevant documents. He told us that he acted in the interest of the country and he has nothing to hide. But we need these documents from him.”
Responding to a question, the source said: “We have confirmed that other fines by Julius Berger ($35m); Siemens (Euros 30m); Snamprogetti($30m); and Japan Gasoline Corporation($26, 500,000) were paid into the Federal Government Consolidated Revenue Account.
“But we have issues with Halliburton Energy Services($32,500,000). As a matter of fact, Halliburton rejected the first account given to it before the private account was provided as an alternative.”
In his testimony, Ewubare defended the transparency of the opening of the account and the remittance of the $32.5million before the EFCC detectives.
He, however, wrote as follows in his statement of witness: “The escrow agent or its nominees are typical signatories. The signatories were undisclosed nominees and myself.
“The escrow account was closed by JP Morgan after Japan Gasoline Corporation payment. The name of the escrow account is “Madison Avenue Escrow.”
Oki told detectives: “It is important to state that the person that communicated the Federal Government of Nigeria bank details as well as D.D. Dodo’s bank details was a prominent member whom the AGF delegated to engage with us in person of Mr. Roland Ewubare.”
He gave the synopsis of how Halliburton paid the $32.5million into the escrow account.
He added: “On the 11th of December 2010, the FGN and Halliburton entered into a Settlement and Non-Prosecution Agreement for the dismissal of the law suit in exchange for an ex-gratia payment of $32.5million into FG dedicated account.
“Halliburton was also to shoulder the FG legal cost to its designated counsel with the assurance from the government that such payments were legal under Nigerian laws and regulations.
“The agreements were signed by the AGF on behalf of the Nigerian government and in the presence of EFCC Secretary, Mr. Emmanuel Akomaye in London.
“Halliburton’s Easter Hemisphere President signed the agreement in the presence of Mr. James Ferguson, the Senior VP and Deputy General Counsel.
“The bank details in Schedule 1 and 2 of the agreement were found to be incomplete and incorrect by Halliburton Treasury and bankers(CITIBANK) on the 14th of December, 2010.
“ Halliburton asked for the corrected bank information from the Federal Government and her legal counsel which was provided to us on the 16th of December by Roland Ewubare on the email provided.
“The account is an escrow account. I am not sure at this point if the change in bank account details was by way of addendum. However, we were advised by the bank that this as a bonafide Federal Government of Nigeria account.”

How This Mother Who Is A Blogger Poisoned Her 5-Year-Old Son To Death
A mommy blogger who poisoned her 5-year-old son to death says her first year in prison has been ‘brutal’.
Lacey Spears, 28, was found guilty of second-degree murder last year, for killing her son Garnett by spiking his hospital feeding tube with toxic amounts of salt.
It’s suspected that Spears suffers from Munchausen by proxy, a syndrome which can cause parents to intentionally make their children sick to get attention.
In a recent jailhouse interview with author John Glatt (who is publishing a book on the case), Spears says she has become the target for bullying at Bedford Hill prison in Westchester County, New York.
‘It’s been brutal here. Crimes involving children are considered the worst here,’ she said, according to Radar Online. ‘I hear them talking behind my back, calling me “baby killer,” “child killer,”and “mother of the year”. But I know it’s not who I am.’
‘It’s been very hard, adjusting to being here,’ Spears continued. ‘You always have to look behind your back, and I don’t trust anyone. I don’t have any friends, but I have people to talk to.’
Her sister Rebecca told Glatt that prisoners who work in the kitchen have been dumping salt packets on top of Spears’ food during meals.
Things have gotten so bad that Spears says jail officials have offered to put her in protective custody. But Spears turned down the offer because it would involve spending 23 hours a day in solitary confinement.
Despite her guilty conviction, Spears maintains she is innocent and says it was actually the hospital workers who killed her son.
During the trial prosecutors said that Spears’ son spent nearly his entire life in and out of the hospital, undergoing unnecessary surgeries insisted upon by his mother before finally dying at her hands in January 2014.
Spears sought even more attention by writing about her son’s sicknesses on a mommy blog called ‘Garnett’s Journey’.
In April 2015, she was sentenced to 20 years to life in prison for the crime.
5 Music Artiste Who Have Lost Their Sauce
Let it be known that I have an enormous amount of respect for this artiste, but over the years, it seems the Kokomaster has lost his ‘Koko.’ For years, Dbanj, churned out hits after hits, making his music the definition of social, like for real, if you did not know all the lyrics to Tongolo, Why Me…., amongst several other tracks then you have not lived. Many blamed his downward spiral on his split from former business partner, Don Jazzy, a claim he tried to debunk with an emergent move with the ‘Emergency’ a track, which did restore a bit of luster to his waning career, but faded out in no time., things came back to a trickle and a final Not one to give up, things came to an halt with a ‘Breaking News’ that he had just released a gospel track he probably believed would help put him back on the track but instead ruined it all, not just for him but for gospel music itself.
Chidinma
I just typed in the name Chidinma on google and nothing pertaining to music cropped up, all I saw where interviews on how she grew up and what not [means even the media houses who interviewed didn’t think to highlight that one thing that made her known to us all on their sites]. From her first stint at music at the MTN music reality show to her signing with her then label, Chidinma, ensured she stamped her signature in all our hearts with not only her vocals but her penchant for making hits until she decided fashion was way better. From being the first female act to land a number 1 spot on MTV base Official Naija Top 10 chart with the song ‘Emi Ni Baller’ from her yet to be released sophomore album to her now Sasha P protegee stance, Chidinma, seems to have lost that sauce [In music that is]. Our wounds have turned into scars Chidinma, I feel it’s about time, you make some music, if not, pull an Illbliss already.
Davido
Save for his major endorsement deals and social media, I Doubt Davido, would still be on our radar. Just past 2012, after the release of his debut album, Omo Baba Olowo, which had the entire nation dancing, he took a wrong turn somewhere and is yet to figure which road is the right one. Yes, he has managed to put out some good songs from his yet to be released sophomore album, but still Davido seems to have lost that glow we all first saw in him. I mean, no one really wants to know your private ish, come on now…yes, we get it kids get to act out somehow, but come on!! you is a dad now, get your acts together and drop some sounds, huh sorry, good sound. We are done hearing about your sexcapades, baby mama ish and whatnot..and the four years stall in releasing his sophomore album is just beyond sad.
Yemi Alade
She had Johnny, then kissing and Nigeria became her playground, then came the Mama Africa Illusion, she decided was a smart move for her brand. What that decision did eventually do to her brand, am certain the littlest kid in country knows….I hate to break it to you Yemi Alade’s fan, Mama Africa isn’t so mama anymore. From her over-milked ‘Nagode’ track down to her sophomore album, Yemi Alade redefined sadness in every language. Would it hurt mama Africa to get some African help? Nah, after-all, that is what everyone seems to be doing these days.
9ice
Now, it hurts my soul that 9ice, is on this list. Everyone knows his music was the soundtrack to most people’s life. Yes, back in 2007, 2008, this musically inclined act gave us songs that ensured traditions stayed alive, before his once booming career came to a screeching halt following split from friend/producer, ID Cabasa and marital issues Since them, making a comeback as proved to be a huge Viktoh, as even with the numerous songs he has released since then, and even a stint at politics, its seems Adigun, doesn’t have that sauce anymore. I can only respect this man for his determination and will but again…..not saying he should retire, but you’d be surprised what a little break, exposure and some firing/hiring can do to one’s career.

Sad!!! Who ‘Predicted Michael Jackson’s Death’ Is Found Decomposed After He Was Shot In The Head
The body of a famous astrologer and clairvoyant who predicted the death of Michael Jackson has been found rotting in a Mexican alley after he was shot in the back of the head.
Rodrigo Rodriguez, born in Colombia, was found dead near the bathroom at a building he used in Cancun on Saturday morning.
Police found the body after neighbors complained about a strong stench coming from his office, local media reports.
The astrologer, who was known as ‘El Brujo de las Estrellas’ – the ‘Wizard of the Stars’, rose to fame by predicting and charting the lives of local celebrities.
He regularly appeared on local television shows, and had events scheduled in the coming months, according to Fox Latino.
In addition to ‘predicting’ Jackson’s death in 2009, Rodriguez also claims to have foreseen the deaths of Whitney Houston and Amy Winehouse.
He also claimed 2014 would be Lady Gaga’s last year, however the popstar survived the year and has gone on seemingly unperturbed by the gloomy prediction.
Showing that he doesn’t just have an eye for celebrity deaths, the Colombian has also claimed to know the location of crashed plane MH370.
10 Public Nuisance Constituted By Nigerian Graduates Due To Joblessness
In this current unbearable recession of the nation, when many graduates can’t even feed well let alone wear good clothing and live comfortable lives. Some are being frustrated by the current state of the nation that they consciously and unconsciously constitute nuisance in the society
Without wasting time, below are the nuisance being constituted by some graduates due to joblessness.
Note: This is NOT a generalization of all graduate who are currently unemployed
1. Political Thuggery
Many will agree with me that joblessness has eloped the thinking faculty of some graduates that they become APC/PDP tyrants causing riot and snatching ballot boxes during election just because of the meager some antagonistic politicians have promised them; and this often makes me wonder the kind of graduates our institutions are churning out every year.
2. They Become Fake Pastors
As barbaric as it sounds, some graduates suddenly turn themselves to pastors overnight without God’s calling. They seek out the best of herbalists for magical powers just to perform signs and wonders that Jesus didn’t perform during his time. They perform miracles that are too impossible to be real just to deceive gullible Christians so that their fan base will increase, and the more th congregation, the more the tithes and offering to buy exotic cars.
3. Fraudulent Activities (Yahoo Yahoo, 419, gbaju e)
Another public nuisance exhibited by some graduates is that they engage in fraudulent activities such as 419, yahoo yahoo, etc. Recently, some of them try to gather as many phone numbers as possible on facebook and will start sending bulk SMSes and email to mobile subscribers that their ATM cards have been deactivated due to failure to activate their BVN, and that they should send their account details to reactivate it.
4. Smoking Marijuana on the Streets
I know that many will agree with me that some Nigerians institutions are very known to be churning out thugs and cultists on the streets of Nigeria. When these people graduate from school and can’t get jobs, you will see them hovering at jedi jedi seller shops drinking smoking marijuana. This display of public nuisance is very common with graduates of OOU.
5. Prostitution
As funny as it sounds, some ladies graduate from school and become runs girl just to meet their basic needs. They carry this operation out by posting all sorts of flirtatious pictures and status on facebook, whatsapp, instagram, etc, just to catch the attention of the best of interested chairmen on social media. Some ladies even focus more on the male corp members just to scam them on their alawi (N19, 500) cheesy
6. They Quarrel over Irrelevant things
Despite being jobless, some of them are so full of themselves that they demand for respect by force because they have Bsc. They quarrel over things that should be overlooked since they are idle. That was how a dude who graduated from Lautech told insulted a lady that she lacked respect because she failed to greet him. Could you believe he went as far as using his corper belt after POP to flog this lady when just to show that he had served
7. Bashing people on Social media
Some of them are found on social media poking their noses into other people’s affairs, trolling, derailing threads and causing commotion where there is peace. They are always quick to label other people “jobless” when in fact, they are the ones suffering from joblessness.
8. Fighting At Vendor Cubicle
As job no dey, some will wake up very early in the morning and will head to the nearest vendor shouting at the top of their voices just to discredit Buhari as a bad leader when they can’t even mange their own lives appropriately let alone managing a whole nation.. This public nuisance is very common with political fanatics when they can’t get jobs
9. Causing Commotion at Parties
Since job no dey, some of them attend parties they’re not invited and will even be fighting for Gulder, star and schnapps. Masquerade festivals, they are there, marriage reception, they are there, yam festival, they are there.
10. They Become Fake Beggars
Some of them will wrap their legs with bandage and will rub their eyes will rob pretending to be suffering from gonorrhea and HIV by speaking good English so that people can believe them and have compassion on them by giving them money. They are very many in Oshodi and Ijana-Ipaja
I drop my pen at this juncture
